The Westminster Education Association would like to give a big shoutout to Maria Núñez for her 32 years of dedicated service as a CLDE teacher in our district. Throughout her career, Ms. Núñez has cherished special moments like Spirit Weeks and the retirement celebrations hosted by the district, which have been highlights of her time here.
What you may not know about Maria is that she is originally from Panama, and she has brought her rich cultural background and creativity into her work. Many know her for her artistic flair, which extends beyond the classroom as she has published political cartoons in six different publications.
Maria chose to be a union member because she believes in the power of collective representation and advocating for the rights of educators. Her hope for the Westminster Education Association (WEA) is that we continue to promote diplomacy and membership, ensuring that we support education and teachers for years to come.
If Maria had a magical power, she would remove apathy, lethargy, and learned helplessness from the world. As she wraps up her educational journey, her advice is clear: stay positive, recognize the beauty in our kids, and never give up on them. Thank you, Maria, for all you’ve given to the district and the countless students you’ve inspired over the years. We wish you all the best in your next chapter.
